# Release policy

> Harbor's stable and nightly release cadence and versioning policy.

Harbor publishes **weekly** stable releases and **daily** nightly builds.

## Stable releases

Stable releases are published to [PyPI](https://pypi.org/project/harbor/) once
a **week**.

* **Patch release:** the default weekly release for fixes and incremental
  improvements, such as `0.22.0` to `0.22.1`.
* **Minor release:** used for a major feature or breaking change, such as
  `0.22.x` to `0.23.0`.

Install the latest stable release with:

```bash theme={"system"}
uv tool install harbor
```

## Nightly releases

Nightly builds publish the latest `main` to PyPI each day. Their versions use
the format `<next-patch>.dev<timestamp>`, such as
[`0.22.1.dev202608271032`](https://pypi.org/project/harbor/0.22.1.dev202608271032/).
See the [PyPI release history](https://pypi.org/project/harbor/#history) for all
stable and nightly versions.

Install the latest nightly build with:

```bash theme={"system"}
uv tool install --prerelease explicit "harbor>=0.dev0"
```

  Nightly builds provide early access to unreleased changes and may be less
  stable.
