# Sharing

> Sharing tasks, datasets, and jobs.

Harbor Hub allows you to share tasks, datasets, and jobs with other users.

## Sharing tasks and datasets

Tasks and datasets can be shared publicly or privately.

Set visibility when publishing a new task or dataset with `--public` or `--private`:

```bash theme={"system"}
harbor publish "<task-path>" --public
harbor publish "<dataset-path>" --public
harbor publish "<task-or-dataset-path>" --private
```

New packages default to private. These flags only set visibility for new packages; publishing another version of an existing package preserves its visibility. Use the `visibility` commands below to change it.

To share a published task or dataset privately with an organization, use:

```bash theme={"system"}
harbor task share "<owner-org>/<task-name>" --org "<recipient-org>"
harbor dataset share "<owner-org>/<dataset-name>" --org "<recipient-org>"
```

To make a published task or dataset public, use:

```bash theme={"system"}
harbor task visibility "<org>/<task-name>" --public
harbor dataset visibility "<org>/<dataset-name>" --public
```

  Sharing a dataset makes all tasks public, including those referenced in prior and future versions.
</Warning>

## Sharing jobs

You can share jobs at upload time or after.

```bash theme={"system"}
harbor run ... --upload --share "<org>"
harbor upload "<job-path>" --share "<org>"
harbor job share "<job-id>" --org "<org>"
```

Sharing a job automatically shares all trials and trajectories with the shared party.

To make a job public, use:

```bash theme={"system"}
harbor run ... --upload --public
harbor upload "<job-path>" --public
```

For an already-uploaded job, `harbor upload "<job-path>" --public` updates its visibility using the local job directory. Use `--private` to make it private again.

## Inspecting share status

You can inspect task and dataset access and job shares using:

```bash theme={"system"}
harbor task access "<org>/<task-name>"
harbor dataset access "<org>/<dataset-name>"
harbor hub job shares "<job-id>"
```
